$750,000 RACP grant awarded to Johnstown Concert Ballet
HARRISBURG, Dec. 22 – State Rep. Bryan Barbin, D-Cambria/Somerset, today announced a $750,000 grant to the Johnstown Concert Ballet from the state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.
Barbin said renovations funded by the grant include asbestos abatement, window replacement and selective demolition, along with new offices and studios. He said the grant will also help create an additional parking area with the acquisition of an adjourning lot, adding a garden and landscaped area that separates guests from the highway.
“I’m pleased to see that the governor and legislative leaders are investing in one of our area’s cultural gems,” Barbin said. “The upgrades funded by this grant will help ensure that the Johnstown Concert Ballet is positioned for a brighter future, now and for generations to come.”
RACP is administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity.
RACP projects are state-funded projects that cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.
