Pitt-Johnstown receives $500,000 grant for multimodal trail and sidewalk project
HARRISBURG, Feb. 8 – State Rep. Bryan Barbin, D-Cambria/Somerset, announced a $500,000 grant to build a trail and sidewalks project to allow access for students to bike and walk from UPJ, Penn Highlands Community College, and the Richland School District to the Richland shopping center.
“Working with county commissioners and Senator Wayne Langerholc, we were able to make this project a top priority with the governor because of the safety and economic development issues,” Barbin said.
The project is estimated to cost $1.6 million. The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth.
