Barbin: $252,040 in fire, emergency service grants awarded in 71st District

HARRISBURG, Feb. 13 – State Rep. Bryan Barbin, D-Cambria/Somerset, announced that 19 fire companies and emergency personnel organizations in his district were awarded a combined $252,040 through the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner’s Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program.

“Working and volunteering in the emergency and service rescue field is an honorable line of work that takes dedication and selflessness,” said Barbin. “I couldn’t be more pleased for the fire, emergency medical services and volunteer rescue squads within my district receiving these funds.”

The following organizations received grants:

Grants can be used toward repairing, building or renovating facilities. Grant money also may be applied toward purchasing new equipment, training and certification of staff, or it may go to repay debt related to equipment purchases or facility building and maintenance.
