Bizzarro appointed to Pa. Grade Crude Development Advisory Council

State Rep. Ryan Bizzarro, D-Erie, has been appointed to serve on the 17-member Pennsylvania Grade Crude Development Advisory Council by House Democratic Leader Frank Dermody, D-Allegheny.

Bizzarro said the council will examine and make recommendations regarding existing technical regulations and policies for oil and gas implemented by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

“I consider it a great honor to serve on this council because I have an interest in the way oil and gas are not only extracted but distributed here in Pennsylvania,” Bizzarro said. “I look forward to working with the secretary of DEP on new policies that would impact the conventional oil and gas industry.”

The council will also provide institutional support for the conventional oil and gas industry, develop a plan to increase grade crude oil production in an environmentally friendly way, develop a joint working group to develop ways to provide viable production water management options, and annually issue a report of its activities and recommendations.

Bizzarro said the council will review the regulatory framework for environmental oversight and enforcement regarding the oil and gas industry.

The next council meeting is scheduled for May.

The council is comprised of state elected officials and representatives from the oil and gas industry.

Bizzarro is vice-chairman of the House Northwest Caucus Delegation.
