According to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, the
Morris Road Bridge is scheduled to close May 3 for
reconstruction and will not reopen until November.
The bridge, which carries SR 2001 over the Northeast
Extension, is being replaced as part of the turnpike’s
10.5-mile expansion project.
Detour information:
- Traffic will be detoured onto Valley Forge Road,
Skippack Pike and Bethel Road. Working with PennDOT and
the surrounding communities, turnpike crews will make
traffic signal timing changes, construct two temporary
traffic signals and add two left-turn lanes along the
4.5 mile detour route to ease traffic flow.
- While much of Morris Road will be closed, the
section that is included in Upper Gwynedd Township’s
Sumneytown Pike project detour will remain open.
- Drivers on the Northeast Extension may also be
impacted by the bridge construction due to reduced
speeds, lane closures, traffic stoppages and overnight
road closures in the area.
