Briggs announces $1.25M grant for Upper Merion Township

KING OF PRUSSIA, Dec. 6 – Calling it a critical project to expand connectivity within the community and provide safe, ADA-compliant walking and biking trails in Upper Merion Township, state Rep. Tim Briggs, D-Montgomery, announced a $1.25 million grant that he had strongly supported and advocated for.

The grant was approved today by the Commonwealth Financing Authority from the Multimodal Transportation Fund and will go towards the first two segments of the Crow Creek Trail project.

The first segment focuses on increasing the connectivity and mobility between residents, the middle school and high school, and community center and pool complex. The second segment involves constructing a pedestrian bridge and asphalt path that will connect to the Sweetbriar Park path and end at West Beidler Road.

Investing in local trails for the community has been a priority for Briggs since first being elected, and he has committed himself to assisting the township in its efforts.

“When completed, the Crow Creek Trail will serve numerous purposes for the residents of Upper Merion Township, and I was proud to support funding to go towards the construction of phases one and two of this project,” Briggs said. “Ultimately, we will be connecting the newly expanded King of Prussia Mall and tens of thousands of residents, as well as the Upper Merion Community Center, to the critically acclaimed Circuit Trails.”

The circuit will be a 750-mile network of bicycle and pedestrian trails connecting people to jobs, communities and parks throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region.
