Rep. Tim Briggs
149th Legislative District
Montgomery County
Biography

As a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Tim Briggs' legislative priorities are driven largely by what he knows best – his family. Tim feels passionately that educating our children is the best investment in the future of the community and the economy. He also is dedicated to ensuring that high quality health care is affordable and accessible for every Pennsylvanian, and is especially concerned about improving women's health care. Tim considers himself an advocate for families and plans to focus on issues that affect Montgomery County families.

Born in Montgomery County, Tim's family moved around the country during his youth, and he feels fortunate to have had this experience. However, in 1999, Tim and his wife Robyn settled in Upper Merion Township, where they now raise their four young children, Emily, Jack, Alexandra and Morrison. He received his undergraduate degree in political science from West Chester University. At age 30, Tim returned to school to fulfill a personal goal and attain his law degree at Temple University Law School, working full time and attending night classes. He joined the firm of Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin as an associate in January 2008.

Public service has always been close to Tim's heart. Throughout his career, he has served as an advisor to County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel, then-state Representative Daylin Leach, state Senator Connie Williams and former Congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky. Tim hopes to continue the high level of service provided by these public servants.

Tim currently serves on an ad-hoc committee formed by Upper Merion Township to explore the feasibility of building a recreation and/or cultural center in Upper Merion. He also serves on the board of directors for the James A. Finnegan Fellowship Foundation, a statewide organization that provides scholarships, stipends and internships to Pennsylvania students who express an interest in state government.

Tim also belongs to several community groups, including the Valley Forge Optimist Club, Ancient Order of Hibernians - Notre Dame Division No. 1 and Elks Lodge 714.

Tim previously sat on the board of directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Montgomery County. He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter for several years.

Tim currently serves on the House Appropriations, Children & Youth, Finance and Local Government committees. He also serves as a member of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
