Brown: State funding awarded to senior center serving west Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 22 – State Rep. Vanessa Lowery Brown today announced the West Philadelphia Senior Community Center has been awarded a $19,053 state grant.

The funds are administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging through part of its multimillion dollar grant program intended to enhance Pennsylvania's senior centers. Throughout the state, the awards are used to modernize facilities, enhance innovative programming, attract new members, build on successful practices and better meet the needs of their participants.

"The West Philadelphia Senior Community Center is a very empowering place where local seniors go for educational and recreational opportunities," Brown said. "Any way a senior center can enhance its services will translate into real-life benefits for those it serves."
