Brown announces apprenticeship grants available for businesses

HARRISBURG, Jan. 29 – State Rep. Vanessa Lowery Brown, D-Phila., announced grant availability for Pennsylvania businesses to assist them with their employee recruitment and development.

The Department of Community and Economic Development is offering the grant opportunities through the Pre-Apprentice and Apprenticeship Grant Program. It provides assistance to registered programs with the overall goal to increase availability to Pennsylvania employers to properly train interested job seekers.

Brown said businesses may receive grants up to $3,000 a year for three years and may be used to cover expenses related to the on-the-job training.

“It’s key that we provide people with the skills they need to become successful in the workforce while creating good paying jobs,” Brown said. “This grant opportunity is a way for Pennsylvania employers to provide those skills while obtaining qualified employees. It is a win-win for both businesses and people seeking employment.”
