Brown, PLBC to host small games of chance seminar
PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 20 – State Rep. Vanessa Lowery Brown, D-Phila., and the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus will host a seminar on the state’s small games of chance laws from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Community College of Philadelphia’s West Philadelphia Regional Center, 4725 Chestnut St., Philadelphia.
Brown, the chairwoman of the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus, encourages private clubs, social groups and non-profit organizations to attend to learn how they may benefit from running small games.
"State laws allow many groups to operate these games," Brown said. "They can be a fun source of increased revenue, but there are very specific rules to follow. We will teach clubs how to apply for a license, and what records they will need to maintain."
New regulations involving record-keeping and reporting will go into effect on Feb. 1, 2014.
This seminar will discuss the new records as well as current law and which organizations may be eligible to apply for the licenses.
For more information, or to RSVP for the seminar, please contact Brown’s office at (215) 879-6615.
