Biography

Michelle F. Brownlee represents the 195th Legislative District in Philadelphia. Brownlee has extensive legislative experience, having worked in the constituent service office of former state Rep. Frank Oliver for 35 years. Brownlee has helped constituents with a myriad of issues ranging from preventing home foreclosures to handling unemployment compensation issues, to matters involving state and federal government.

Brownlee is a past member of the board of directors of the historic Berean Institute, and she is also a graduate of the Berean Institute paralegal program. In 1995 and 1996, she earned the Judges Honors, a coveted award at the Berean Institute. She has also been listed in "Who's Who for Junior Colleges."

Brownlee is past president of the Philadelphia School District Head Start Policy Council, is a member of the Celestial Work Ministries and serves as a licensed missionary. In addition, Brownlee served as the past president of the Pastor’s aide ministry and the missionary ministry. She is currently a bible study instructor at the church. Brownlee is a wife, mother, grandmother and a well-respected community activist.

Brownlee is the co-vice chairwoman of the Philadelphia Delegation and past secretary of the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus. She also serves on committees such as Appropriations, Secretary of Children & Youth, Secretary of Human Services and as sub-chair on First Class Counties of Urban Affairs.
