Bullock salutes $500,000 grant for Philadelphia Zoo
PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 22 – State Rep. Donna Bullock, D-Philadelphia, today applauded a state Redevelopment Assistance Capitol Program grant totaling $500,000 for the construction of a new Guest Food Service Hub at the Philadelphia Zoo.
Bullock said the funding will go toward the current building demolition and relocation, kitchen equipment, fire protection systems, security systems and telephone and data systems.
“The Philadelphia Zoo is a milestone for our communities. Welcoming over 1.2 million visitors a year, it has been able inspire people of all ages to conservation action. Action that is needed now more than ever,” Bullock said. “I’m pleased to take part in this new achievement and I’m looking forward to working with the zoo and supporting its work as a conservation leader.”
RACP is administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity.
RACP projects are state-funded projects that cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.
