Burns announces $1.4 million in grants for local projects

Grants will help advance critical infrastructure projects in Cambria County communities

EBENSBURG, Sept. 18 – Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, is pleased to announce that a number of local communities have been selected to receive more than $1.4 million to help advance critical infrastructure projects.                                                                     

Funded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, the grants include:                                 

  • A $424,000 grant for the Municipal Authority of Portage to construct 2,750 feet of water line in the borough and township of Portage;

  • $369,000 for the Carrolltown Borough Municipal Authority to replace and extend a water in the borough;

  • $255,000 to the Sankertown Sewer Authority to replace 1,560 feet of terra cotta sewer pipe along Penn Avenue, Summer and High streets in the borough;

  • $221,000 to the Carrolltown Borough Municipal Authority to upgrade a wastewater pump station;

  • And a $133,000 grant for the East Taylor Municipal Authority to replace a 900-foot water line in the township.

“As communities across Pennsylvania work to address their aging infrastructure I am happy to support our local communities’ efforts to improve their water and sewer systems,” Burns said. “These types of projects are critical to the health and well-being of all of us, and I am confident that each of these projects have a positive impact on the quality of life in their respective communities.”
