Dauntless Fire Co. receives state grant

Grant will help local company with training, equipment

EBENSBURG, Oct. 9 – Rep. Frank Burns is pleased to announce the Dauntless Fire Co. in Ebensburg has been selected to receive a $7,150 state grant to help fund training and equipment related to fighting brush and forest fires.

“Our firefighters are critical resources to our communities, and we need to do everything we can to ensure they have the resources to stay safe and be prepared to respond to emergencies,” Burns said.

The grant program, offered through the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is for training and equipment purchases directly related to fighting brush and forest fires. Grants may be used for purchasing mobile or portable radios; installing water supply equipment; wildfire prevention and mitigation work; training wildfire fighters; or converting and maintaining federal excess vehicles.

Burns also wants to remind local fire companies the grant application period for the 2018-19 Fire Company, Emergency Medical Services Companies Grant Program has begun, and his office is available to assist local companies with their grant applications.
