Burns secures $40,000 grant for Gallitzin Borough

Project to fund development of athletic field

Gallitzin, Nov. 14 – State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, has announced that Gallitzin Borough will receive a $40,000 state grant for the development of Gallitzin Athletic Field Park.

“I recognize the importance of state government investing in small towns throughout our region,” Burns said. “I’ve always fought to secure state funding for rural communities like ours.”

Burns said the funding, awarded via the Community Conservation Partnerships Program and administered by the DCNR, will be used to construct pedestrian walkways and pavilions; landscaping, project sign, and other site related improvements, including ADA access.

The CCPP program provides financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts, and other nonprofits for planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenway projects.

“My office hired a grant writer to assist municipalities with finding and applying for state funding, so we can maximize opportunities for our area.”
