Cambria County awarded nearly $270,000 emergency grant

HARRISBURG, Jan. 3 – State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, today announced Cambria County has been awarded a $268,254 grant aimed at combatting homelessness.

“I am glad that Cambria County is receiving this funding,” Burns said. “Homelessness is a growing problem across the country and even here in Cambria County, including the distressing situation of veterans’ homelessness. This money will help get people back on their feet while preventing others from being forced to live on the street.” 

The federal Emergency Solutions Grant was provided through the Department of Community and Economic Development. The funding may be used for rapid rehousing, street outreach, homelessness prevention, emergency shelter, homeless management information system and administrative costs.

The ESG program is designed to assist people to quickly regain stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness.
