At a Capitol news conference, Rep. James E. Casorio Jr., D-Westmoreland, discusses legislation (H.B. 2563) he is co-sponsoring that would require municipalities with more than 10,000 people that rely on the state police for local law enforcement to pay a fee, which could be used to hire as many as 4,000 new troopers statewide.

Representative Casorio tours the newly remodeled kitchen at the Grandview Volunteer Fire Department in Penn Township with Fire Chief Cliff Storey and Trustee Carol Ross. The kitchen renovation was made possible by a state grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development that Representative Casorio helped the Grandview VFD obtain.

Representative Casorio talks with cadets at the North Huntingdon Township Police Department's Junior Police Academy. The academy is a leadership camp run each summer by the township police, and provides area youth who participate with training in marksmanship, drill, criminal investigation techniques and other skills. Representative Casorio helps fund the camp with a $10,000 state grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development.
