More than one hundred thousand residents use the 11 library branches slated to close, not only for their books, but for Internet access, to read newspapers, to search employment databases and as a quiet place to study and do homework. Public libraries are important education and community resources. Shuttering these community institutions adversely impacts regular visitors to the closing branches, as well as the people who use the remaining branches.
