Comitta appointed to five House committees

HARRISBURG, Jan. 27 – State Rep. Carolyn Comitta, D-Chester, announced today that she has been appointed to serve on five standing committees in the House: Aging and Older Adult Services, Environmental Resources and Energy, Local Government, Professional Licensure and Urban Affairs.

“It’s an incredible honor to get to help craft and improve legislation through the committee process on the very important issues these committees deal with,” Comitta said. “Specifically in Southeastern Pennsylvania, more and more people are becoming interested and engaged in environmental issues. A spot on the Energy and Environmental Resources Committee will allow me to help my constituents by fighting for clean air and pure water.”

The Environmental Resources and Energy Committee works with the Department of Environmental Protection, among other departments, to establish regulations on environmental issues, including air and water quality, and waste management.

Comitta also was appointed to the Aging and Older Adult Services Committee, which reviews bills aimed at improving the lives of Pennsylvania’s senior citizens; the Local Government Committee, which reviews bills affecting counties, cities, boroughs and townships; the Professional Licensure Committee, which reviews bills pertaining to positions requiring licensing for qualified employees and businesses; and the Urban Affairs Committee, which reviews bills that pertain to cities and counties of the first, second and third class.

“I look forward to the opportunity to positively influence legislation that will make for a safer, healthier Pennsylvania,” Comitta added.
