Conklin sworn in for sixth term
HARRISBURG, Jan. 4 – State Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Centre, yesterday took the oath of office to begin his sixth term representing the 77th Legislative District.
"It is a great honor to continue serving the Centre Region in the General Assembly," Conklin said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, and am energized to advance sensible policies that benefit all Pennsylvanians.”
The swearing-in ceremony in the House chamber marked the beginning of the 201st Legislative Session. The state constitution mandates that the legislature convene at noon on the first Tuesday of January each year.
"My priorities for this two-year term begin with keeping our unemployment rate low, increasing public education funding and keeping school property taxes as low as possible,” Conklin said. “There is much challenging work to be done.”
The 77th Legislative District includes Philipsburg and State College boroughs, Huston and Rush townships, and portions of Ferguson and Patton townships.
Conklin has two constituent service centers in his district. The State College service center is located at 301 S. Allen St., Suite 102, and can be reached at (814) 238-5477. The Philipsburg service center is located at 209 E. Presqueisle St. and can be reached at (814) 342-4872.
