Rep. Lawrence Curry, D-Montgomery/Phila., meets with Pam Keely, director of Evergreen Adult Day Program in Wyndmoor before a House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee meeting on adult day services in Pennsylvania. Rep. Lawrence Curry discusses the importance of removing bisphenol A (BPA) from infant and toddler products with Ursinus College Professor Rebecca Roberts during a Jan. 14 hearing on a bill he has introduced. His legislation would prohibit the manufacture or sale in Pennsylvania of baby bottles, training cups, formula cans or other child-care items that contain BPA. The estrogen-like chemical can be dangerous to children and adults as it has been linked to a range of health disorders including autism, obesity, learning and behavioral problems, early puberty, prostate and breast cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
