May 21 shredding event a success

I want to thank everyone who brought their personal documents to be shredded on site at my Shredding Event in Morningside.

Not only did hundreds of people safely dispose of unneeded documents containing personal information to help prevent identity theft and fraud, they also saved thousands of dollars and protected the environment by recycling those documents.

In total, we collected 10,000 pounds of paper, which equaled 5 tons of processed recycled material. According to the company that destroyed the documents and then safely and securely shredded the paper, that translates to saving:

  • 85 trees
  • 35,000 gallons of water
  • 20,500 kilowatts of energy
  • The atmosphere from 300 pounds of pollutant
  • 25 cubic yards of landfill space

Shredding is a great way to dispose of documents in an environmentally friendly way while also protecting your identity from fraud. Thanks for your help in protecting the environment!
