DeLissio: Join me at the Farm Show!
HARRISBURG, Jan. 4 – State Rep. Pam DeLissio, D-Montgomery/Phila., is preparing to again squeeze her way into the Pennsylvania Farm Show this year by participating in the Celebrity Milking Contest on Friday, Jan. 11th at 2:30 p.m.
"The Pennsylvania Farm Show is one of my favorite events of the year," DeLissio said. "The Celebrity Milking Contest is all good, clean fun, and I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and pant legs with an eye toward capturing the number one ribbon, all the while bringing much-deserved attention to the state's number one industry.”
DeLissio has served for seven years as a member of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee and is a city gal, so she brings a different perspective to the country table. She said she is proud as a peacock about her district’s agricultural delights, from local farmers markets and Community Supported Agriculture programs, to producers who are part of the PA Preferred program and the many Philadelphia-based urban farms that contribute to a strong, sustainable local food system. The 194th legislative district is home to the only agricultural high school in the state; only one of three in the nation.
"Even though I represent a surburban/urban area, legislators and folks around the commonwealth always tell me how impressed they are with my passion and pride for Philadelphia’s contributions and interests in Pennsylvania’s number one industry," DeLissio said.
The 2019 Pennsylvania Farm Show will be held Jan. 5-12 in Harrisburg. Admission is free and parking is $15 in all Farm Show Complex-operated lots. The event is the largest indoor agricultural exposition in the nation. Open to the public, the farm show is an annual event with nearly 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibits.
