DeLissio schedules fall events
The lineup includes the 67th Town Hall meeting, shredding events and annual Senior Expo
HARRISBURG, Aug. 25 – State Rep. Pamela A. DeLissio announced several fall events that will provide valuable services and information for residents in the 194th District.
“Engaging with constituents is important, and these upcoming events provide the opportunity to offer great services to residents and hear their thoughts on current topics,” said DeLissio, D-Montgomery/Phila.
67th Town Hall
DeLissio’s 67th Town Hall is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 in the second floor community room at the Bala Cynwyd Library, 131 Old Lancaster Road.
Town hall meetings provide opportunities for dialogue from constituents throughout the district on a variety of topics that are being considered by the state House. The dialogue often represents divergent views and the discourse has always been civil, DeLissio said.
“My Town Halls draw repeat attendees as well as new faces, and everyone is welcome to join us to get a better understanding of what is happening in Harrisburg,” DeLissio said. “Since the state budget is still incomplete there is a high probability that this will be the priority topic; particularly if a budget impasse is occurring and school districts and human services programs could be adversely impacted by the delay.”
Free shredding events
DeLissio has also scheduled two free shredding events. The shred events are rain or shine events.
The first is 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Roxborough Municipal Lot, 514 Dupont St. Another will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, in the Magisterial District Court parking lot at 925 Montgomery Ave., Narberth.
“Shredding documents that contain personal and confidential information is a great way to help protect yourself from identity theft,” DeLissio said. “This is a good time to clean out those desks and files and dispose of unneeded papers in a safe and environmentally friendly way.”
Over 300 households took advantage of DeLissio’s spring shred events. There is a four bag/banker box limit per household.
Annual Senior Expo
DeLissio’s annual Senior Expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28 at Roxborough Memorial Hospital, 5800 Ridge Ave., Philadelphia. Visitors should look for the white tent in the parking lot off of Rector Street. This is a rain or shine event.
The expo is held in conjunction with the hospital’s Good Neighbor Day Health Fair. DeLissio and her staff will be joined by state and local government and nonprofit agencies sharing information on services and programs for older adults.
“Seniors are active and vital members of the community, and I’m excited to be able to bring together a diverse group of agencies that offer opportunities specifically for older adults,” DeLissio said. “In addition to a variety of health, home, and other service needs, folks will be introduced to organizations providing life-long learning and volunteer opportunities, and ways to stay or become engaged with the community in which we live, work and play.”
