Deasy: Tax credits totaling $685,000 awarded to entities in 27th Legislative District

HARRISBURG, Dec. 17 – Four entities located in the 27th Legislative District today were awarded $685,000 in tax credits, announced state Rep. Dan Deasy, D-Allegheny.

The tax credits will aid in funding four community redevelopment projects, Deasy said. The projects range from bolstering educational opportunities for children and families, to community and economic development, and to renovate and revitalize commercial buildings.

“The tax credits awarded today to this district will play a large role in rectifying issues we’ve been working to fix for quite some time,” Deasy said. “Not only will this help fix the blight situation scattered across the district, but it also will assist in enhancing educational opportunities for area youth.”

The entities that received tax credits include:

  • McKees Rocks Community Development Corp., $400,000.
  • Center of Life, $55,000.
  • Landmarks Community Capital, $80,000.
  • McKees Rocks Partners LLC, $150,000.

The tax credit program, managed by the state Department of Community and Economic Development, provides the credits to businesses that donate capital to support projects that address neighborhood and community problems, including affordable housing, veteran’s initiatives, crime prevention education, job training and long-term community revitalization.
