Deasy to host free document-shredding event

HARRISBURG, April 15 – In his continued effort to protect residents from consumer fraud and identity theft, state Rep. Dan Deasy, D-Allegheny, is partnering with state Sen. Wayne Fontana to host two free document-shredding events.

The first event will be held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9 at St. Pamphilus Church’s lower lot, 1000 Tropical Ave., Pittsburgh.

The second event will be held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16 at Green Tree Park, Pittsburgh.

“I look forward to hosting these free document-shredding events because they are so important in the battle against identity theft. These events give people the opportunity to get rid of documents they no longer need, ensuring that the items are disposed of in a secure manner,” Deasy said.

Residents are invited to bring old health records, financial documents and compact disks for secure disposal. There is no fee to destroy the documents.

Additional information about the event is available by contacting Deasy’s constituent services office at 412-928-9514.
