State Rep. Eugene DePasquale, D-York, and his colleagues in the state House of Representatives recently adopted a resolution recognizing the valiant service of Ann Getty DeMoise of York. Mrs. DeMoise was honored for her dedication to the United States during World War II and for her contributions as a pioneering woman in the American workplace. Mrs. DeMoise was employed by Bendix Aviation during World War II, which at that time was a national defense company based in Philadelphia. While working for Bendix Aviation, Mrs. DeMoise worked as an assistant to the chief engineer and was the only female on the team. The position required her to be responsible for top secret documents and blueprints used to develop the device that would hide the Enola Gay from Japanese radar during its mission to Hiroshima, Japan on Aug. 6, 1945. |
Rep. DePasquale joined Mayor John Brenner, representatives from the York Economic Development and Redevelopment Authority, and state Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Kathleen McGinty as the DEP delivered a $1 million grant to the Northwest Triangle project. The funding will be used for environmental assessment and remediation activities and is critical to the completion of the 29-acre redevelopment project in York City’s northwest corner. |
