Great day for DarbyNew transportation center now in serviceRep. Donatucci had the honor of helping wield the scissors at the June 17 official opening of the new Darby Transportation Center. The event culminated the $2.1 million project to provide a large, heated shelter for the approximately 5,000 SEPTA riders who use the center daily. Also included were lighting, signage, landscaping, ornamental fencing, paving, historical information markers and crosswalks. The funding was provided primarily by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. In remarks to the gathering, Rep. Donatucci congratulated borough officials and SEPTA for the outcome of the project and the key concerns of the people who will board buses there. "It keeps you dry. It keeps you warm," Donatucci said. "For the riders, those eight words are the core of the years of planning, and finally, the construction of the dramatic upgrading of the Darby Transportation Center."
