Driscoll begins second term representing 173rd District

HARRISBURG, Jan. 3 – During a ceremony at the state Capitol today opening the 2017-18 legislative session, state Rep. Mike Driscoll, D-Phila., took the oath of office to begin his second term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Driscoll said his legislative priorities for the new term include addressing retirement security, expanding the local job base and advocating for law enforcement officers and first responders.

“As a freshmen legislator, I was proud that a bill I authored, which would create a realty transfer tax exemption for those who’ve lost a loved one as a first responder, passed the House,” Driscoll said. “While it didn’t become law before the end of last session, I am ready to champion the legislation in the House and the Senate this term. I am optimistic that my colleagues and I will be able to offer this small sign of appreciation to our first responders soon.”

Driscoll’s district offices are at 3294 Red Lion Road and 7104 Torresdale Ave. in Philadelphia. The phone numbers are 215-281-3414 and 215-333-9760, respectively. His staff can provide information and assist residents with a variety of state programs and services.

"Providing assistance with state, local and federal programs or other key constituent issues is a big part of the job, and a great chance to meet the community," Driscoll said. "My staff and I are here and ready to serve the district however we can."

Driscoll also invites residents to visit his website – www.pahouse.com/Driscoll – which has links to information on state services and includes a form that allows constituents to email him. He also maintains a legislative Facebook page at www.facebook.com/RepDriscoll.
