Gainey hosting annual Senior Fair on Sept. 7

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 30 – State Rep. Ed Gainey is inviting area senior citizens to his 4th annual Senior Fair.

It will be held from noon until 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the Homewood Coliseum, 7310 Frankstown Ave., Pittsburgh, 15208.

"This free event is a great opportunity for older residents to get all the information they need about local and state programs that may benefit them and their family," said Gainey, D-Allegheny. "I look forward to seeing everyone again this year."

Information from local, county and state agencies, as well as local exhibitors and businesses, will be available – along with free health screenings, entertainment, door prizes and food.

Attendees also can receive a free flu shot with their Medicare or insurance card.

"People also should bring their unwanted and unused medications to the Senior Fair, so they can be disposed of properly by the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office," Gainey said. "Drug abuse often begins when people steal prescription drugs from their family and friends. Misuse of prescription pain relievers can lead to dependence and even heroin use."

For more information, contact Gainey’s office at 100 Sheridan Square, 3rd Floor, Pittsburgh, 15206 or by phone at 412-665-5502.
