Gainey lauds $1 million state grant for Homewood project
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 23 – State Rep. Ed Gainey said a Homewood redevelopment project today was approved for a $1 million state grant by Gov. Tom Wolf.
Gainey said Bridgeway Redevelopment Corp. plans to use the funds to redevelop a 150,000-square-foot building at 7800 Susquehanna St.
“This project will fully reactivate 7800 Susquehanna as a beacon of opportunity for the Homewood neighborhood in the city of Pittsburgh. Redevelopment of the building will create stable, affordable rental space for manufacturers and other businesses. Tenants will create employment opportunities, attract investment and bring renewed energy to the area,” Gainey said.
The grant will support interior fit-out, core and shell work, and site improvements.
“I want to thank Governor Wolf for releasing this crucial Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant because of the economic opportunities it will bring for the Homewood community,” Gainey said.
The RACP is administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.
