House Democrats this past legislative session really got the ball rolling on eliminating school property taxes.
I feel confident the momentum that has begun on this issue will not only continue, but will pick up steam as more and more Pennsylvania homeowners demand relief from school property taxes.
In July, as a member of the House Finance Committee, I voted to move a bill forward that would have cut school property taxes on homesteads by increasing income and sales taxes. I co-sponsored this legislation, and will do so again eagerly should it be reintroduced this legislative session.
Reducing or eliminating school property taxes has been a political football for more than 30 years and the state legislature has done little but fumble. But with the dedication and ambition of the freshmen lawmakers, and the cooperation of seasoned House members from both sides of the aisle, I believe we can get this job done once and for all.
Add your voice to the fight by signing my petition demanding quick action to reduce or eliminate school property taxes for Pennsylvania homeowners:
