For too long we have allowed unscrupulous contractors to hire illegal workers and push legal, taxpaying citizens from the payrolls to the unemployment rolls.
I have reintroduced my E-Verify bills that would help to save Pennsylvania construction jobs by requiring contractors to verify the employment eligibility of their employees.
I have also taken action on House Republican efforts to get rid of the state's prevailing wage law, which would further threaten the livelihoods of skilled Pennsylvania construction workers.
- Hiring of illegal workers increases our unemployment rolls, and contractors who do this may be skirting payroll and other taxes;
- The prevailing wage law ensures well-trained workers are on the job getting it done right the first time, reducing the potential for taxpayers to have to pay to correct problems caused by less-skilled workers.
Please sign the petition to show you want to protect Pennsylvania jobs and wages, and save taxpayers money by doing so by supporting my E-Verify bills and legislation encouraging the Legislature to keep the prevailing wage.
