Rep. Gibbons listens to testimony from Ambridge Area School District Superintendent Dr. Erv Weischedel during a House Democratic Policy Hearing in Conway. Gibbons opposed the $29 million cut in state funding for schools in Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties that forced school property tax hikes and larger class sizes.

A $1.2 million cut in state funding forced the Ambridge Area School District to raise school property taxes, use 15 fewer teachers in the classroom and eliminate several educational programs, Superintendent Dr. Erv Weischedel told a House Democratic Policy Hearing.  Rep. Gibbons, who voted against the budget, hosted the hearing to explore the impact of reductions in state funding.

Rep. Gibbons joins Iraqi police officers touring Beaver County as part of the Iraqi Police Education Program. The U.S. State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement awarded a grant to the International Association of Chiefs of Police to enhance law enforcement skills including specialized courses in criminal investigation, forensics, and border enforcement.
