Goodman re-elected to House Democratic leadership team

HARRISBURG, Nov. 21 – State Rep. Neal P. Goodman recently was re-elected to the House Democratic leadership team and will continue serving as caucus administrator for the 2017-18 legislative session.

In that position, Goodman oversees day-to-day operations of the caucus at the Capitol.

"I'm thankful that my colleagues and constituents have again put their trust in me," said Goodman, D-Schuylkill. "I'm looking forward to continuing to carry out my responsibilities as caucus administrator, and continuing to represent the interests of the people of the 123rd Legislative District."

Goodman began serving as caucus administrator in 2012. House Democrats elect their leaders as part of reorganization every two years.

Goodman is the first House Democrat from Schuylkill County to hold a leadership position in the caucus since his uncle, James Goodman, served as chairman of the House Democratic Policy Committee from 1977 to 1980.

Goodman has worked in state government for 26 years, serving as chief of staff to retired state Rep. Edward J. Lucyk from 1993 to 2002. During that time, he served as executive director of the House Veterans Affairs and Tourism and Recreational Development committees. He took office as state representative in 2003, and was recently elected to a seventh term.

Other members of the Democratic leadership team elected Wednesday are: Leader Frank Dermody, Allegheny County; Whip Mike Hanna, Clinton and Centre counties; Caucus Chairman Dan Frankel, Allegheny County; Caucus Secretary Rosita Youngblood, Philadelphia County; and Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, Lancaster County.
