Hanna announces $200,000 grant award for Lock Haven snow removal

LOCK HAVEN, Nov. 5 – State Rep. Mike Hanna, D-Clinton/Centre, announced that the city of Lock Haven will be receiving a $200,000 grant through the Governor’s Local Municipal RELIEF program.

Lock Haven will be using these funds for the purchase of a new plow truck with a salt spreader, plus a wheel loader and skid steer to help load salt into trucks at its municipal salt storage area. The new truck will help expand Lock Haven’s snow removal operations on its streets, whereas the other equipment will make it more efficient for snow to be loaded into city trucks along with Keystone Central School District and Lock Haven University snow removal vehicles.

“With winter fast approaching, this grant comes at the perfect time,” Hanna said. “This new snow removal equipment will enable our community to be more efficient and effective with winter operations. This isn’t just more convenient for our residents, it is also a public safety protection, so that our roadways can be made safe for travel as soon as possible. Although not looking forward to winter weather driving, I am anxious to see this equipment in action later this year.”

The Local Municipal RELIEF program is a highly competitive grant operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
