Former state Sen. J. Barry Stout receives the Allison Maxwell Award at the Mon Valley Progress Council dinner. Also pictured are Progress Council board member Bob Burke of the Valley Independent, and John Easoz, Progress Council president. Stout received the award for his Senate service and his leadership on transportation and local issues. Rep. Harhai was there to support him as Stout has supported Harhai on many of his issues, including the Rostraver Airport.

Rep. Harhai joins Don Bixby and Glenn Fennell at the dedication of the Bixby-Fennell Community Room in the Sewickley Township Public Library. The two gentlemen donated their time and effort to refurbish an outdated, unused room in the old school that houses the library into a clean and welcoming community room for the public's use.

Harhai presents a legislative citation to Belle Vernon student Jenna Christner for being selected a Pennsylvania state winner in the junior group documentary category of the 2010 National History Day. Christner won for her documentary on the village of Penn-Craft, a Depression-era, self-help community in Luzerne Township, Fayette County. National History Day is an internationally recognized program of academic excellence that engages students in a positive learning environment and enhances student achievement. Rep. Harhai proudly accepts a flag from U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Patrick Egros Jr. of Rostraver Township. The flag was one of four that Harhai provided to units that were departing for service in Afghanistan. Sgt. Egros also presented Harhai with a certificate that states this Stars and Stripes flew over Forward Observation Base Chapman in Khost , Afghanistan at a time of hostile fire.

Harhai said the flag and certificate will be framed and mounted in a prominent place in his Monessen District Office.

Approximately 1,000 children’s books were on display during the distribution. Rep. Harhai swings for the fence at a benefit softball game at Belle Vernon Area Schools Stadium. The game featured the famed “King and His Court” softball experts and entertainers. The game was to benefit Mike Fenyar Field in Washington Township, named in memory of the long-time community and Belle Vernon Schools softball coach who died of cancer last year.
