Boyle refuses paycheck until budget is enacted

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 9 – State Rep. Kevin Boyle, D-Phila./Montgomery, issued the following statement on the budget impasse, which has left state government without a working budget for the new fiscal year that started July 1, 2015:

“The budget impasse has now reached more than 130 days, which is impacting many school districts and social services agencies that serve some of our state’s most vulnerable citizens.

“I am disappointed that more than four months after the June 30 deadline we still do not have a balanced budget in place to pay for the programs and services that touch the lives of every Pennsylvania citizen.

“Until a balanced budget is enacted into law, I refuse to accept my legislative salary because if schools and social service agencies aren’t getting paid than either should legislators.”
