Biography

Rep. Ken Smith (D-112, Lackawanna) was born in Scranton in 1961 and was first elected to the Pa. House of Representatives in 2006. He is the owner of Smith’s Restaurant in Scranton, which has been a family owned business since 1934. He graduated from Dunmore High School and Keystone College. Smith resides in Dunmore and is the son of Joseph and Theresa Smith. He is married to Dorothy Trionfo and has two children, Ryan and Kaleena.

Smith’s civic activities include: member of the Lackawanna County Workforce Investment Board; chairman of the Lackawanna County Youth Council; former board member of the Chamber of Commerce; board member of the Worthington Scranton Campus of Penn State University; and a member of the UNICO Scranton Chapter.

Smith is the recipient of the 2004 Chapel of the Four Chaplain’s award, the 2003 Governor’s Achievement Award and the 2002 Lackawanna County Head Start’s “Man of the Year” award.

Smith’s legislative priorities include property tax relief, increasing school funding, senior citizen concerns and affordable health care.
