House Democratic Policy Committee to examine potential of single teacher health care plan for the state

HARRISBURG, April 28 – State Rep. Sid Michaels Kavulich will host a House Democratic Policy Committee informational hearing along with Republican state Rep. Bernie O’Neill on a proposal that could save taxpayer dollars through the creation of a single health care coverage plan for the entire commonwealth. 

 

"With 500 school districts in the Commonwealth and many different health plans providing coverage, we need to hear from the experts," Kavulich said. "Our goal is to gather real-world data to help us determine how to go forward in potentially consolidating these many plans while helping school districts, protecting teachers, and saving our taxpayers their hard-earned dollars." 

 

The hearing will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 2 in the House Democratic Caucus Room, 418 Main Capitol Building, Harrisburg.
