Patty Kim named as a co-chair for 2015 Grand Review

HARRISBURG, Sept. 28 – State Rep. Patty Kim, D-Dauphin, today said that she is honored to be selected as a co-chair for the 2015 Civil War United States Colored Troops Grand Review.

The 2015 Grand Review Weekend, which will mark the 150th anniversary of a parade of black Civil War veterans in Harrisburg on November 14, 1865, will be held in Harrisburg on November 13-14, 2015.

This event commemorates and honors the sacrifice of the more than 180,000 African American patriots of the Civil War.

“Unity and solidarity are the hallmarks of the United States Colored Troops,” Kim said. “That's why we gather and galvanize our community resources to come together to honor the patriots of the Civil War who were critical to the success of the Union. I am truly honored to be co-chair of this historic event.”

United States Colored Troops re-enactors from several states will participate in the Grand Procession during the Grand Review, and many of the other events connected to the weekend.
