Rep. Kortz speaks in opposition to an amendment that would have cost the borough of West Mifflin and surrounding communities $1 million in lost revenue. The amendment, which was defeated in the House, would have inserted language into a bill prohibiting the collection of an amusement tax in Pennsylvania theme parks and water parks, including Kennywood Park in Rep. Kortz’s legislative district. The amusement tax provides millions of dollars a year for the municipalities that host these parks, helping to keep taxes down for local residents. - 8/5/2008
