|Rep. William C. Kortz
38th Legislative District
Rep. Bill Kortz (D-38, Allegheny) is a veteran of the steel industry who worked for U.S. Steel at the Irvin Plant for nearly three decades, most recently as an operations manager, before being elected to the Pa. House of Representatives in 2006.
A 1973 graduate of McKeesport HS, Kortz received a bachelor’s of arts degree in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and also attended Duquesne University’s masters of business administration program. He is the father of three children and in his spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities like hunting and fishing. He is an active member of the Clairton Sportsman Club, Dravosburg Fire Hall and American Legion Post 380.
Kortz identifies five main issues he will place particular emphasis on during his tenure in the legislature: economic development in the Mon Valley; property tax reform; increased state funding for education; transportation and infrastructure planning and funding; and government reform. While economic development is his top priority, he will work on many levels to make the 38th District, and all of Western Pennsylvania, a wonderful place to live, work and enjoy time with family and friends.
