Rep. Krueger-Braneky's Biography
Leanne Krueger-Braneky has received national attention for her work in economic development, program development, and public policy. She has been invited to the White House Business Council on multiple occasions to advise them on the needs of local businesses. For eight years, Leanne served as the first Executive Director of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia (SBN). Under her leadership, SBN grew into an organization that served hundreds of locally owned businesses and trained thousands of entrepreneurs. SBN became a key player in the quest to make the Philadelphia region the most sustainable region in the country, helping to attract more federal green jobs funding to the area than any other region in the country. Leanne’s efforts to reshape economic development practices Philadelphia were recognized when SBN was named Regional Economic Development Program of the Year by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning
Commission in 2011.
Before being elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Leanne worked on economic development at the national level at the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE), an organization that supports over 50,000 locally owned, independent businesses from across the country to create a stronger, more resilient, and just economy. After working in community and economic development for fifteen years, Leanne decided to run for office to be a voice for change on the issues she cares about: economic development, education, and the environment.
Leanne holds an MBA in Urban Economic Development from Eastern University and a BA in Sociology from Rutgers University. She is also a BALLE Fellow, a Senior Fellow of the Environmental Leadership Program and a 2009 Pennsylvania Fellow of the Center for Progressive Leadership. Recent awards include the B Lab Champion of Change, 40 Under 40 from Pennsylvania Environmental Council, Next Generation of Leadership Rising Stars, and the Green Power Award from Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future. Leanne lives in Swarthmore, PA with her young
son Wendell and husband David Braneky, an American Baptist Pastor who served for seven years in Delaware County and now serves in West Chester.
