Krueger announces state funding for local fire, EMS companies

(Feb 15, 2024)

HARRISBURG, Feb. 15 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, today announced $192,051 in state funding to support fire and EMS services in the 161 st Legislative District she serves. The grants come from the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, administered by the Office of State Fire Commissioner and available to volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services and rescue squads. Krueger said the money can be used for facility upgrades, equipment, debt reduction, training and certification, education and public outreach, and recruitment and retention efforts. Additionally, fire companies were permitted to apply for construction savings accounts for the purposes of new facility construction. “Congratulations to these always hard-working firefighters and EMS providers who keep our communities safe and cared for,” Krueger said. “Volunteer fire and EMS in Delaware County and across the state continually struggle to raise funds to keep their operations running and to maintain volunteers. It’s why I keep voting in Harrisburg for state funding to supplement their efforts through grants like these.” Krueger voted in 2020 to reauthorize the grant program through June 2024, and is supporting legislative efforts to reauthorize and double the size of the program in this year’s state budget. Fire/EMS companies in the 161 st District received the following amounts: Read more
