Biography

Rep. Deberah Kula (D-Westmoreland/Fayette) was born in Fayette County and has worked in the judicial system for more than 31 years, serving for 14 years as a North Union Magisterial District Judge. She was first elected to the Pa. House of Representatives in 2006.

Prior to her legislative service, Kula was the deputy court administrator for the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas before advancing to the post of court administrator. She also has held several other leadership positions, including president of the Fayette County District Judges Association; chairwoman of the Court Administration Committee of Special Court Judges Association; board member of Another Way, Inc.; member of the Judicial Council Committee for Judicial Safety and Preparedness; member of the Fayette County Drug and Alcohol Advisory Board; and member of the state Department of Education Statewide Truancy Task Force.

Kula lives in North Union Township with her husband Frank. They have three children and nine grandchildren.
