House Democrats seek safer hospitals

The last thing a hospital patient, or their family, wants to worry about is whether those who are providing their care are tired from being overworked. Next week, during National Nurses' Week, the House of Representatives is poised to vote on legislation authored by Rep. Dan Surra, D-Elk, to end the practice of mandatory overtime for nurses.

House Democrats have been advocating this important measure for several years.  Last session, we successfully ushered the bill through the House. Unfortunately, the Senate Republicans took no action on the legislation. This session YOU can make a difference!

The response from across the state has been overwhelming. Thousands of you have visited the House Democratic Action Center offering your support for Surra's legislation - H.B. 834. It's not too late to add your name! Click here to join the fight against mandatory overtime for nurses and to encourage your representative to support the bill.
