HOUSE DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP LETTERS
Rep. Bill DeWeese, Majority Leader |
|
House
Democrats DELIVER For most of the state, volunteer fire and ambulance companies can literally mean the difference between life and death and the billions of dollars in taxes and insurance money saved every year impacts everyone in the Commonwealth.
It's getting more and more difficult to get volunteers to keep those fire engines, ladder trucks and ambulances rolling, though - the brave men and women who would give their time and risk their lives to protect us are being forced to spend their time raising money instead of responding to emergency calls.
That's why House Democrats stood together this week and passed legislation (H.B. 906) sponsored by freshman lawmaker Bryan Lentz that makes $50 million in grant money available this year to every volunteer fire and ambulance company in the state, and guarantees $25 million annually through 2012.
You can join the fight and stand up for our volunteers by visiting our Action Center - together, we can do more for the people who are always there for us.
