HOUSE DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP LETTERS
December 28, 2007

Rep. Bill DeWeese, Majority Leader
Rep. Keith McCall, Majority Whip

Happy New Year

As 2007 draws to a close, we are happy to update you on some of what House Democrats achieved this year on behalf of all Pennsylvanians.

With 116 bills signed into law and 261 bills passed by the House, great strides were made on issues important to you and your family.  You can find a more detailed account of these accomplishments by clicking here, as well as view other issues House Democrats are working on by visiting our Web site, www.pahouse.com.

When House Democrats took the majority in January, we immediately took steps toward making government more open and accountable to the people. The numerous changes made to date have made House floor proceedings more transparent, giving the public and all lawmakers ample opportunity to review, comment on and amend legislation as it is moving through the process.  We look forward to finalizing historic bipartisan open records legislation very soon.

The General Assembly returns to session in January. House Democrats are excited to continue our work in the areas of health care, property tax relief, education and government reform.

We wish you a safe, happy and healthy new year.
