Three days to a responsible budget
Time's Up!
House lawmakers passed and the governor
signed legislation that will allow the 77,000 state workers affected by the state budget impasse to be paid while legislative leaders continue to negotiate a final agreement.
On July 30, Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi said that a budget
could be done in two to three days if the governor's request for a Personal Income Tax increase of a half percent was removed from the negotiating table.
In an effort to find the common ground needed to close the state's $3.2 billion budget gap and protect the programs and services people need, House leaders, on Aug. 3, removed the PIT from the budget table.
Now that the PIT is removed from discussions, House Democrats have asked Sen. Pileggi to
hold to his word
and help Pennsylvania reach a final, responsible budget now.
The time on Sen. Pileggi's three-day clock has run out. Yet, Senate Republicans STILL refuse to compromise or negotiate in good faith. Please join us in asking Sen. Pileggi to come back to the table and negotiate.
